Much is not wrong - it is just not frequently used. A lot of would be much more normal.

Is the following sentence correct?  Is it OK to use 'much' in this sentence?

# 1 We have much homework to do today.

I learned that we should use 'a lot of' in a affirmative sentence.

Sorry, I made a mistake.
I wanted to ask if it's OK to say, 'Thank you for giving a letter.'

But I believe you've got what I wanted to say.Thank you very much.

Your original #1 and #2 fit the brackets but they don't really make sense generally; though, I suppose, in some contexts they would work.

No you don't!

Like many text book questions, this one is unanswerable. Your original #1 and #2 fit the brackets but they don't really make sense generally; though, I suppose, in some contexts they would work.

Thank you for the answers.
I asked you because I found a question in a textbook.
Thank you (        )(        ) a letter.

So, do you say, 'Thank you for a letter.'?

Why change it? "Thank you for your letter" is perfect.

You write or send a letter. I don't think 'giving' a letter is natural.
And yes, ' (to) me' is more specific.

Hello again,
Been struggling with no internet for the past month. We are using old technology here and Telstra are very slow in fixing up copper lines. And it's not even wet season yet, when these troubles usually occur. Anyway, back on line again at least for the time being. Still no email.
Hope all is well with everyone.
Cheers
Darryl
