do the late / early turn
« on: December 28, 2021, 05:34:22 am »
Hi there,

What does this expression mean ? -> ....I get off nice and early, but then occasionally I do the late turn and don't finish till after midnight.
Does that mean the person doesn't finish his/her job and has to work till late ? Linger over one's work ?

No. Obviously people work shifts. It might be a factory or a hotel which is open 24 hours a day. Normally the person works from early morning until early afternoon then goes home; but, sometimes, has to work from the afternoon to the late evening.
Best wishes,

Duncan
