---- Lamartine meanderings
« on: September 08, 2021, 05:01:29 am »
She let herself glide along with Lamartine meanderings, listened to harps on lakes, to all the songs of dying swans, to the falling of the leaves, the pure virgins ascending to heaven, and the voice of the Eternal discoursing down the valleys. ( Madame Bovary, https://www.gutenberg.org/files/2413/2413-h/2413-h.htm )

Please explain "Lamartine meanderings".  Thanks.  --- tk

Once again I am no expert but it would seem that Alphonse de Lamartine spent much of his life searching for God. It would not have been a straight path but one that meandered. Presumably Madame Bovary was of similar ilk.
Best wishes,
