There have been mudslides in La Canada where Gene lives.
The past brush fire bared the area and caused them, they say.
I hope he is fine. --- tk

Yes, they are doing it tough there at the moment. I'm sure Gene will pop up here soon to tell us all is OK.

Hi Guys:

The past few days have been quite exciting. We had a fast and furious monsoonal deluge that dumped tons of water along the foothill area in just a few hours. The flood control channels worked fine; however, one debris basin got blocked up with boulders…………consequently huge gobs of mud and debris overflowed onto the local main street which is where my house is. I am located on an elevated spot between Pickens Canyon, a floor control channel, and Ocean View Boulevard, the main street leading up into the high mountain area.

One happy note: The County clean up crews were superb. They worked through the entire storm clearing streets. They are still working as I write. It will require thousands of truckloads to clean up the mess………………………GG

Gene..Great to know you are safe.
We in the tropics are never faced with such extremes (frequently), so i would not know the true extent of mother nature's destructive fury. I can imagine from the pictures that the situation must be pretty bad. I am surprised and glad your internet connection is still working.

Hi, Gene, glad you've let us know you're okay! I saw the news reports too, and wondered if you were affected. The mud seems to have caused quite a mess! Here in OK, we're having a winter storm--nothing terrible though--not like the Christmas Eve blizzard of 09 or the second storm that dumped about a foot of snow on us. We are predicted to have a chance of another big storm--from the rain storms you've had.

We have been reading the news reports in the Los Angeles Times, Gene, and it seems as though you are in the middle of this mudslide area. You even have Mr Schwarzenegger there so it must be pretty serious stuff. Hope all goes well for you and Gisele with the next rain you are expecting. We are thinking of you.
