Title: What does "market" mean?
Post by: beautyhero922 on February 15, 2020, 01:28:14 am
Would you please tell me what the "market" in the sentence below means?
I don't think it means something like "a place where something is sold". What do you think?

Meanwhile, the market for new antibiotics is deteriorating rapidly. Without a concerted international response, drug-resistant superbugs could take ten million lives per year by 2050, resulting in cumulative loss of around $100 trillion in global output.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, Darryl.   Then I think I can paraphrase it like this:  "the need for new antibiotics is becoming greater and greater."
 What do you think?
