Could you check?

1. John will be fond of more friends than Mary will.
2. John will be fond of more friends than Mary will be.
3. John will be fond of more friends than will Mary.
4. John will be fond of more friends than will Mary be.

1 and 3 are fine. In #2 you do not need the "be". In #4, the word order is very old fashioned.
