Are all these sentences correct and correctly punctuated:

1) In the first weeks, when we lived at the hotel, we ate out.

2) In the first weeks when we lived at the hotel, we ate out.

3) In the early days, when we lived in a rented house, we had to work overtime.

4) In the early days when we lived in a rented house, we had to work overtime.

Is there a difference between the meanings of '1' and '2'?
Is there a difference between the meanings of '3' and '4'?

Gratefully,
Navi
