Sculpture for Darryl
« on: April 29, 2019, 02:38:10 pm »
Darryl,

I found this and thought of you. Are you still creating your metal sculptures from scrap items?  This guy really does a lot of interesting work: http://www.johnlopezstudio.com/

Cheers!

Thanks Bertha. Yes, I have seen a lot of John Lopez's sculpture. He really is in a class of his own.
And yes, I am still doing sculptures. My recent creations have been a giant sized scorpion, along with a full size (3.2 metre) crocodile which I have just finished. I'll see if I can post a picture or two.

I would say you are in the same class as Lopez!  The scorpion is so real looking that I wouldn't want to be too close or I'd be stung.  The crocodile is really taking shape.  I hope you post a photo of it when you're finished.  Great work!

How to tell the difference between a crocodile and an alligator?

You see the crocodile in a while and the alligator later.

Darryl, you sure have been having fun! Great job!

Duncan, that login box at the top right corner is broken. I logged in via the one on the left.

Here's another website displaying metal sculptures: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=https://www.metallurgicpark.net/author/guygiuotpcqt/&prev=search

The original page is in French, so I had Google translate it.

Thanks, Bertha. That longhorn bull is amazing. Very clever how he has hidden all the welds.
The crocodile is finished now and I am contemplating the ways of moving it. It is, to say the least, very heavy.

Crocky did very well at our local craft show. He devoured all the competition and emerged as Champion Of Champions!!

Thank you, Bertha. The biggest challenge was lifting him in there. Forklift did the job.

Congratulations, Darryl.  It will look great in the front yard of a natural science museum, or an alligator museum.  --- tk
