Duncan - it's just not cricket
« on: March 29, 2018, 12:05:00 am »
I'm guessing that the British press is having a field day with the cricket crisis caused by the Australians' ball tampering. People in non-cricketing countries will wonder what all the fuss is about over a small secretive square of sandpaper.
The media is all over it here. Every newspaper in the country has front page coverage and the TV news is leading with the story. Smith and Warner banned from international and domestic cricket for 12 months. Sub-editors are having a great time with lines like Australia out for 365, and Australia: 2 for 12.
Australia's cricket correspondent in London said it's a hard time being an Australian in London right now. Your ex-captains Nasser, Vaughan and players Gatting and others have been scathing in their criticism.
And rightly so. They have brought discredit to Australian sport that will last for many decades to come. As a keen follower of cricket, I feel ashamed.  :-[

There's not much reporting in the media. Just the bare facts really.

Anyway - we are not talking about cricket here at the moment - the men in NZ and the ladies' 20/20  :'(
Best wishes,
