Maths pun
« on: October 21, 2016, 09:17:47 am »
There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator.

Only a fraction of people will find this funny.

Love it. Nothing improper there.  ;)

I was lucky enough to not notice the point about "fine line" at first, and noticed it only after reading both lines.  That allowed the joke to be fully funny!

If it's not used by a native speaker it's not idiomatic. And idiom trumps grammar every time. Jack Wilkerson†

While we're on the maths thing:

An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar.
The first says, "One beer, please" The second says, "Half of a beer, please" The third says, "One fourth of a beer, please."
When the bartender realizes what's going on he brings out two bottles of beer.
The first mathematician says, "It's good to know your limits."
