Did I miss much?
« on: March 06, 2015, 05:46:34 am »
In what situation do you say "I'm sorry. Did I miss much?"

I guess it may be used by a person when he/she  thought he/she was late for something like an event?

What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you use it when you are late for a meeting, a concert, a party or such. However "did I miss much?" is a very confident statement. At a meeting it would rather be used by the boss than by an intern. It transports an idea like "I didn't think I'd miss much so I didn't bother to be here in time".
If it's not used by a native speaker it's not idiomatic. And idiom trumps grammar every time. Jack Wilkerson†

I agree Britta - but it could also be apologetic. I am so sorry I am late; did I miss much?
Best wishes,
